There are several ways to get to #diabetic-talk on Undernet: 1. You can download the program from here this program will allow you to connect to other chat groups, on the Undernet server.

2. You can download the program that automatically connects you to the chat here

3. You can connect to a Java based program by going here

If you are going to download and install mIRC then you need to follow Kelly's/Opal's guide to setting up the program, which is very easy.

Here's a step-by-step guide to connecting to #diabetic-talk on Undernet using the program mIRC that can be downloaded here.

#1 - Go to the website: Undernet
At the bottom, select "create one"
Follow all their steps... you'll get an email with a link to activate the account. Follow that, and you'll get a password for Undernet. You are now registered.
#2 - While on Undernet in IRC.... on any command line, type:
/msg x@channels.undernet.org LOGIN username password
You have to do this *EVERY* time you start IRC and go onto Undernet.
#3 - If you are using mIRC, you can set up #2 to auto-perform.... on the status window, go to:
file/options/connect/perform
in that box, tick the box that say "enable perform on connect"
in the big box type:
/msg x@channels.undernet.org LOGIN username password

You don't need to "Add" anything, and leaving it set to "all networks" should be okay, unless you go to other IRC servers regularly.
#4 - To hide your home ISP from everyone else on the network, *AFTER* your /msg x@channels command, you can type:
/mode yournick +x
to make your address look something like this:
yournick.yourIdent@YourUsername.users.undernet.org
Note that this is your *NICK* (what we see you on #diabetic-talk as) NOT your registered username.

You can also add that /mode yournick +x command in the same place you added the /msg x@channels command, if you plan to always use the same nick (when available, of course)
Voila. All done. Now, see? Wasn't that easy? lol
